…and because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them.
(Acts 18:3 NIV)
Paul was an apostle and his calling was missions, but he made a living as a tentmaker. Not only did this allow him to support himself and preach the gospel free of charge (1 Cor. 9:18), it gave him opportunities to engage others in the marketplace—others such as Aquila and Priscilla, who were also tentmakers. This couple would eventually be known as Paul’s “co-workers in Christ” (Rom. 16:3).
ACTION: Reflect. Do you see your work as a ministry? Are there others around you to disciple or serve alongside of? Does your job give you opportunities to engage others, support missions, or share the good news of Jesus?
