A prayer and reflection in light of what God has done for us through the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.
God, Our Father,
who created the earth and everything in it,
who made us in Your own image and entrusted Your creation to our care,
we come before you this Resurrection Sunday.
We celebrate You and all You have done for us.
For you so love us, God, that you sent your only son, Jesus Christ, to this earth
not to condemn us, Lord, but to save us,
to be with us,
to be one of us,
to take our sins upon Himself,
to pay a debt that we could never pay on our own.
By his death and sacrifice on the cross, our sins our forgiven.
By his resurrection from the grave, we have hope and eternal life.
We thank You, God, for this gift of grace.
Your kindness leads us to repent of our sins:
the thoughts we have, the things we’ve done, the things we’ve thought about doing.
You see it all, and You know our hearts, yet You love us enough to die for our sins.
Forgive us, Lord, for the times we forget this.
Forgive us for the sins we’ve committed against You and against one another.
Lord, by Your Holy Spirit, would you please bring to our minds any sins we need to confess?
(Take a moment to reflect)
God, we confess our sins to you.
We confess that we cannot change our ways on our own.
We need you, God. Please forgive us.
We thank you for your sacrifice on the cross.
We thank you for your mercy on us.
We thank you for the grace you give us.
We thank you for the gift of eternal life.
Take our sins away, as far as the east is away from the west.
Cleanse us and make us clean.
Strengthen us against temptation.
Fill us with Your Holy Spirit.
Show us how to live each day
That we might reflect Your grace.
Lord, today we celebrate the Resurrection.
Your resurrection from the grave on that first Easter Sunday,
your resurrection that gives us hope in a resurrection to come,
when You will wipe away every tear,
where sickness and death will be no more.
By Your wounds, we are healed.
By Your grace, we are forgiven.
We praise You, God, and praise You alone.
In the name of Christ Jesus, our Lord,
Amen.
